Something wrong with the laptop's USB port Something wrong with the display-> USB-C adapter (it's supposed to handle 4k/60Hz though). Some sort of frame rate expectation mismatch, triggering a bunch of extra calculations Should've splurged even harder and got the highest graphics card (which would be very disappointing, considering this configuration was already hovering around $4k) I regularly unplug the monitor to get things to calm down, but I'd really like to use it because I love the extra real estate. Does anyone have any idea what could be going on? I don't THINK I see this happening so much when casually browsing the internet or whatever, but the fan noise has gotten so bad that I'm worried I'm going to fry this machine. This seems to be happening even with empty sessions. It only takes a few minutes with Logic open for the laptop fans to start up. I also got a 27" 4k monitor (this one: ***AC2UK), plugged in via a display port to USB-C adapter. I splurged on a nearly maxed out 16" pro- highest processor speed and RAM, only limiting the storage (1TB instead of up to 8TB) and mid-level graphics card (AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 8GB GDDR6 memory instead of 5600M 8GB HBM2 memory).
